Artistic Success: Camara Arts is an organization serving the needs not only of artists; in building an artist network, collaborative, & union; bringing together youth & communities of Africa and the Diaspora in partnering efforts for cultural exchange, networking, dance for healing, and research. Artistic success for Camara Arts means bringing people together from all cultures with a focus on youth for the benefit of exposure to tradition; using the arts as a healing conduit; the preservation of traditional African arts via research and education. Success for Camara Arts will be the result of participating children graduating from one of our programs and becoming successful in their school work or other activites. Success for Camara Arts will be the distribution of educational film documentaries viewed by children learning meaning and purpose of African Arts. Artistic success are well attended programs with participants achieving feasible goals that touch on Africa criteria for dance, drumming, language, as well as other artistic forms of excellence.

AVAILABILITY OF THE ARTS

Camara Arts empowers individuals & artists, bring people together in community, and therefore helping people to achieve freedom. In the global market we spire to develop & market programs that serve youth, artists, community, and contribute to the preservation of African arts. Camara Arts preserve traditional African Arts through supporting community as well as global arts exchange. We are committed to pass on on those ancient healing arts for the upliftment and development of youth, community, and cultural exchange.Camara Arts offers instruction in traditional African arts primarily to inner city youth as well as all populations and of special needs with a focus on dance as a conduit for healing.

We provide technical assistance to practitioners of African arts assisting with grant writing, opportunities for teaching artists in the community, and exposure to African Arts to the community bringing the best traditional African artist, research in Africa as we develop a tour for youth to learn and study in Guinea, West Africa.

The audience characteristics include predominantly African American, African, African derived spirit based organizations, various folklore groups from different cultural backgrounds. Our audience spans across educational levels from illiterate to various professional and graduate school levels. In our 1st guest workshop series with the Elder singer Kokasale, we had a small participation of 10 people. In our lecture/demonstration series our audiences averaged between 40 to 80 students per program. The demographics for our technical assistance programs centered from our home base in Nicetown area of Philadelhia, the demographics for our performances and choreography drew from all of Philadelphia. Programs can be arranged for any place in the world given the appropiate sponsors.
